Utah Death Certificate Database, Office of Vital Records and Statistics,
Utah Department of Health and Human Services.
The population estimates were produced by staff in the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Division of Data, Systems, and Evaluation. Linear interpolation of U.S. Census Bureau and ESRI ZIP
Code data provided annual population estimates for ZIP Code areas by sex and age groups.
All estimates were then weighted so that county totals matched the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS)
through a collaborative agreement with the U.S. Census Bureau, IBIS Version 2017

YPLL
YPLL in this query has not been age-adjusted. "Premature" mortality for this indicator has been defined here as death at an age younger than 75.
Premature mortality, known as "Years of Potential Life Lost Before Age 75," or YPLL, is one measure to look at overall health status. In addition to looking at the number of deaths, YPLL also considers the age of the decedent. The measure is the sum of all the years of life lost among persons who died at an age younger than 75 years, and gives a higher weight to deaths of younger persons. A 30-year-old would contribute 45 years to the measure, whereas a 70-year-old would contribute five. A high YPLL indicates more persons died at younger ages.
Sarea
"Utah Small Areas" refers to a set of geographic areas in Utah with
population sizes ranging from approximately 15,000 to 60,000 persons.
These geographic areas are especially useful for doing public health
assessment in communities within Utah's urban counties. Utah Small Area
population numbers are not available for race, ethnicity, or single
year of age.

As of November 22, 2017, the IBIS system has been updated to use an algorithm which uses both ZIP and county information to designate Local Health District (LHD) and Utah Small Area. Queries by LHD or Small Area may yield different numbers than in prior months. For more information go to [http://ibis.health.utah.gov/pdf/resource/Algorithm.pdf]
GeoLHD_2015

Overview
The mortality data in this IBIS-Q query module have been derived from
death certificates in participation with the National Vital Statistics System,
and are maintained and provided by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, Office of
Vital Records. They include virtually all deaths of Utah residents, regardless
of where the death occurred. The causes of death were classified using International
Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) codes. The small area population data
used for the denominator were produced by ESRI ZIP
Code data provided annual population estimates for ZIP Code areas by sex and age groups, are considered the most accurate available.
