Notes

After the 2000 survey, the BRFSS "quit attempt" question was changed as follows: 1991-2000: During the past 12 months, have you stopped smoking for 1 day or longer? 2001-2005: During the past 12 months, have you stopped smoking for 1 day or longer because you were trying to quit smoking?
