Relevant Population Characteristics

Injuries are more prevalent in adolescence and early adulthood. The same population is at a greater risk of hospitalizations for unintentional injuries. The risk of motor vehicle crashes is higher among 16 to 19 year olds than among any other age group. Falls are the leading cause of injury deaths and the most common cause of nonfatal injuries and hospital admissions for trauma among older adults.
