The database is maintained by the Utah Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.This module uses the NYU ED classification algorithm to report ED data. The algorithm was developed with the advice of a panel of emergency mdicine and primary care physicaians, and it is based on an examination of a sample of almost 6,000 full patient ED records. Each case was classified into Emergent primary Care Treatable, Emergent ED Care Needed but Not Prevntatble/Avoidable, Emergent ED Care Needed but Preventable/Avoidable, Psych, Alcohol and Drug Related, Mental Health Related, Injury, Unclassified.
