Why Is This Important?
Having a chronic illness such as arthritis may contribute to depression. Individuals who report doctor-diagnosed arthritis and seven or more days when their mental health was not good during the past 30 days are considered to have arthritis and depression.How We Calculated the Rates
| Numerator: | Number of survey respondents who reported doctor-diagnosed arthritis, and seven or more days when their mental health was not good in the past 30 days. Responses of "Don't know/Not sure" or "Refused" and those with "Missing" responses were excluded. |
| Denominator: | Total number of respondents who reported a doctor or other health care professional that they had some form of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, or fibromyalgia excluding responses of "Don't know/Not Sure" or "Refused" and those with "Missing. |
