This page discusses the issues with the Map SVG XSLT. Map files are represented in a vector based format. This section describes what is needed to create an SVG XSLT for a given map along with the sub areas of interest.

The IBIS-PH Choropleth maps are extremely rudimentary. The basic operation is to "fill" a sub area with a color based on that sub area's choropleth value. The actual area value is able to be displayed on mouse over but there is not anything statistically going on with the map and what it displays.

High Level Steps

Get an Arcview Shape file of the area of interest. This needs to be complete with all layers of interest and at a very coarse level of shape granularity so that the files are not as large.
Run the MapSVG conversion software on the shape file to produce an SVG file. This software is an ArcView 3.x plugin and as of 2004 does NOT support ArcView 8.x+.
Manually using a text editor edit the layers into a named SVG element which is sized and positioned relative to the container.
Adjust the image size parameters to retain the correct aspect ratio of the map to be displayed and to fit correctly on the web page.
Adjust/move/place the image controls where they need to be
Add/remove any XML file shape layer inclusions to/from the map.xslt
Create/update the appropriate Query module dimension values that are associated with each area of the map.
Write the SAS code to generate the appropriate values that will be used to color the associated area.
